H.E. Mr. Waleed Al-Emadi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Hellenic Republic meets with HE. Mr. Marwan Toubassi, Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Athens. During the meeting they discussed bilateral relations and means of developing them in addition to issues of common interest.

HE President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou received on Tuesday the credentials of HE Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Hellenic Republic Waleed bin Mohammed Al Emadi. HE the Ambassador conveyed greetings of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to HE President of the Hellenic Republic, and HH the Amir's wishes of good health and happiness to HE President of the Hellenic Republic and continued progress and prosperity to the government and people of Greece. For her part, HE President of the Hellenic Republic conveyed her greetings to HH the Amir, wishing him good health and happiness, and the State of Qatar continued progress, development and prosperity.

HE Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic Ambassador Dimitrios Zevelakis has received a copy of the credentials of HE Waleed bin Mohammed Al Emadi as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Hellenic Republic.

Thousands of people were forced to evacuate their homes as ‘devastating’ forest fires continue to ravage the country. An equipped search and rescue has been dispatched to Greece to assist in battling a series of “catastrophic” wildfires in the country, authorities have announced. The Qatari delegation was transported by a Qatar Emiri Airforce plane and includes officers from the International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Lekhwiya Force, by order of Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The team will aid in ongoing search and rescue operations in the European nation as fires continue to spread across the country. For the past week, uncontrolled wildfires have swept through several parts of Greece in what is considered the country’s “worst heatwave in more than 30 years,” with temperatures exceeding 40C (104F). Hundreds of homes have been destroyed as the inferno tore through thousands of acres of forestland, leaving hundreds of animals dead in its path. Residents have described “losing entire villages to flames”.

During the meeting, bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries were reviewed. Her Excellency wished HE the Ambassador success in his future assignments. For his part, HE Qatar's Ambassador expressed his thanks and appreciation to Her Excellency for awarding him the Order of the Phoenix, wishing the relations of cooperation between the two countries further development in all fields.

The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs held on Wednesday 21 July 2021, a luncheon in honor of His Excellency Mr. Abdulaziz Ali Al-Naama, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Hellenic Republic, on the occasion of the end of his tenure and in appreciation of his efforts in strengthening and developing relations between the two countries. The luncheon, which was held in honor of the Qatari Ambassador on the occasion of the end of his tenure in Athens, was attended by His Excellency Mr. Kostas Fragogiannis, the Greek Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and Openness, and a number of Arab Ambassadors accredited to the Hellenic Republic. Also a number of Senior Officials of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also attended. His Excellency Mr. Kostas Fragogiannis, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and Openness expressed his appreciation and thanks for his efforts in supporting and enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, and wished him success in his new duties. From the other side, the Ambassador thanked the Greek Government for all the facilities provided to him during his tenure to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Hellenic Republic Mr. Nikos Dendias met with HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Athens Mr. Abdulaziz Ali Al-Naama, on the occasion of the end of his tenure. During the meeting, relations of bilateral cooperation between the two countries have been reviewed. HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Hellenic Republic thanked HE the Ambassador for his efforts in supporting and enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, and wished him success in his new duties.

HE President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou awarded the Order of the Phoenix to HE the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Greece Abdulaziz Ali Al Naama, on the occasion of the end of his tenure. The Order of the Phoenix is one of the highest honors granted by the Greek presidency to heads of friendly diplomatic missions. HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Nikos Dendias bestowed the Order upon HE the Ambassador during his meeting with His Excellency at the headquarters of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, the Greek Foreign Minister stressed that awarding this high order to HE the Ambassador is in appreciation of his efforts in strengthening relations between the State of Qatar and the Hellenic Republic in all fields.

HE Minister of Development and Investments of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Spyridon-Adonis Georgiadis met with HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Athens Mr. Abdulaziz Ali Al-Naama, on the occasion of the end of his tenure. During the meeting, relations of bilateral cooperation between the two countries have been reviewed.

HE Minister of Agricultural Development and Food of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Spilios Livanos met with HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Athens Mr. Abdulaziz Ali Al-Naama, on the occasion of the end of his tenure. During the meeting, relations of bilateral cooperation between the two countries have been reviewed.
